Okay guys, serious talk for a minute. I’ve decided to give crowd-funding a try, because I’ve got some cool ideas for the blog’s future (which I mention in the video, but would be more than happy to talk about in more detail if asked), and absolutely no money to make that happen. I shopped around the various options, and settled on Patreon, for the following reasons:

  • It’s set up to make small, monthly contributions to the creator of your choice (that’s me!) If you only want to make a one-time payment, you can always just cancel your pledge next month, but since the blog is ongoing, I liked having a crowd-funding tool that was ongoing.
  • It accepts payments from credit cards or Paypal (which is great for all of you who, like me, don’t want to set up a Paypal account.)
  • Like Kickstarter, it’s set up so that I can reward patrons (there’s more information about rewards on the Patron page.)

Now, let me make this clear: the blog will remain as it’s always been: free for everyone, forever. I am not asking you to pay for the blog. I’m just asking that those of you with cash to spare consider contributing to make the blog better. If anyone has any concerns about any of this, please please send me a message (or an email at askmiddlearth@gmail.com), I would love to talk to you!
